Dictionnaire (supplément 2004).This Old Khmer-French-English Dictionary saw the daylight in 1992 under difficult and most peculiar circumstances. It resulted, indeed, from a colossal project in Khmer Studies, while there were officially no "Khmer Studies" to speak of: no official centre for training students, and no geographical research area accessible, because Cambodia was practically shut to the outside world. And yet, while having no institutional assistance of any kind, I, the lone compiler, enjoyed a tremendous and enthusiastic moral support from many people who were motivated by either their close link with Khmer culture and the Old Khmer language which I began to unveil through my teaching or by their strong will to survive, or by both. All this explained the modest looks of the first Old Khmer dictionary ever attempted.
